ntroducing Calgary Hornets Player Development Clinics
Hello Hornets Families,
The Calgary Hornets Lacrosse Organization is excited to unveil new player development clinics to allow players to continue development and keep their skills sharp during the off-season. Each floor time will have a themed focus but will also include a variety of lacrosse skills covered in other sessions. These sessions are designed to focus on skill development and will be broken down into the categories below. It is important that players sign up for the level appropriate for their skill. If you are unsure which skill level is appropriate for your player, it is advised that you sign up for Intermediate sessions and the coaches can make the determination of if a player should be moved to the Advanced sessions.
Intermediate - Intermediate clinics are designed for players that have played lacrosse before and are still developing their stick skills to be able to pass and catch, while in motion, consistently.
*Intermediate players may graduate to the Advanced group throughout the off-season.
Advanced - Advanced clinics are designed for players that can pass and catch in motion consistently, who are looking to take their game to the next level and to keep their skills sharp in the off-season. These clinics target players that have played at the ‘A’ level or who are challenging for roster spots on ‘A’ teams.
Coaches reserve the right to move players if they sign up for a clinic that is not appropriate for their skill level. Drills in the Advanced sessions will not be modified to accommodate players that do not meet the prerequisite requirements.
Clinics can be booked individually to allow families to be able to attend what works with their schedules. COST: $15 per player per session and $20 per goalie per session.
Goalies can also sign up for free to attend runner sessions. Goalies should try to target an appropriate skill group. U9, U11 and U13 goalies should target Intermediate clinics while U15 and U17 goalies should sign up for Advanced clinics. To sign up as a goalie for the runner clinics please contact the Coach Director at coachdirector@hornetslacrosse.com. This will ensure that we do not have too many goalies for any one session and that opportunities are distributed as equally as possible.
We hope this is just the beginning of a new player development strategy to help our players reach their potential. Any questions can be directed to coachdirector@hornetslacrosse.com.
Sincerely,
Hornets Board
